In my
opinion Genetic Engineering is beneficial to humanity. The benefits of genetic
engineering in each field like Human Cloning, Medical Treatment,
Pharmaceuticals, Pregnancy Cases, and Agriculture.
Human cloning:
Almost every day, scientists make new advances in the field
of human engineering. The mammals have been successfully cloned and the human
genome project has been completed. It is pushing scientists around the world to
research many different aspects of human genetic engineering. These studies
have allowed to better understand DNA and its role in medicine, pharmacology,
reproductive technology and other fields.
Medical treatment:
The most
beneficial benefit of genetic engineering in humans is gene therapy, which is a
medical treatment for the disease in which the defective genes are repaired and
replaced, or therapeutic genes are introduced to fight the disease.
Pharmaceuticals:
Pharmaceutical products available today are much better than their
predecessors. These new products are made by cloning certain genes. Some
prominent examples of this are bioengineered insulin that was previously
obtained from sheep or cows and the human growth hormone that was previously
obtained from cadavers.
Agriculture:
The
agriculture sector also benefits greatly from genetic engineering which has
improved the genetic health of different plant species. Common benefits
increase the ability of photosynthetic plants, increase plant resistance,
resistance to drought and viruses, and also reduce the need for nitrogen
fertilizer plants.
While there are benefits to genetic engineering, there are
disadvantage. Genetic engineering can also cause unknown side effects. Some
changes in a plant or animal can cause unexpected allergic reactions in some
people that do not occur in their original form. Other changes can make any
organism toxic to humans or other organisms.
