The parasite obtains food and shelter from the host.
Parasitism mode of life ensures food lodging and meals. Parasites usually don’t
kill their host. Predation is a relationship between a predator and a prey in
which the predator is free living organism which catches and kills another
species for food. They do not get shelter from prey. Predator kill their prey.
There is no fundamental difference between parasite
and predator. In general predation is viewed as a big individual eating a
smaller one while parasitism is when a small individual eats a bigger one. Some
predators are micro predator like vampire bat which is not bigger than its
prey.
